I just bought the DVD. I saw it in the theaters when it was first released. Some of the training sequences (Kata) are authentic. In the background in one scene they performed WuBuQuan which means 5 stance fist. A basic routine taught in most northern style and wushu schools including mine. It contains the 5 most important stances in Chinese martial arts. The front stance, horse stance, drop (Crouching) stance, crane stance, and cat stance.

Tang Kheng Heng was the animation director, but IMDB doesn't tell us very much about him.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2260732/

One of my favorite lines is from Oogway, "The past is history, the future a mystery, but today is a gift.  That is why it is called the present."

And one of the funniest:

Shifu: "JUST HIT SOMETHING!"

Po: "Ok... how about that?"

Shifu: [disgusted] "That?!  We use that to train children; and prop the door open when it's hot!"

Great movie.  I was skeptical about it until I saw it last Sunday.  After we watched it as a family, my daughter asked me if she was old enough yet to become a "Little Dragon."  (She's been talking about it since she was three.)  So we took her to the dojo today, and she had her first class and she absolutely loved it!

They are making a sequel to the movie!  WOOT!!!! I can't wait!

Oh.. by the way.. as I was watching the movie, I noticed how much I enjoyed the Monkey character. I loved watching him move, and how comedic he was. I even liked his voice.  Then, at the end of the movie, I paid attention to which actor was the voice of each character, and I was thrilled to see that it was Jackie Chan that was the voice actor for Monkey.  Even as a cartoon character, Mr. Chan is fantastic!

Whoops...sorry if that's a spoiler.   :P  Since the movie came out three months ago I figured anybody who wanted to see it would have seen it already.

I am definitely going to buy it on DVD when it comes out.  It's a classic.

Oh, I loved it!  I thought it was much smarter and cleverer than I expected.  They spoofed martial arts movies so well, and at the same time paid tribute to them.

My favorite thing was the way, in fights, pressure points showed as lit up little circles on opponents' bodies, as if they were buttons.  I also adored the "secret technique" they revealed at the end -- the panda manipulated the finger of the leopard and caused a nuclear explosion.  I laughed so hard my stomach ached.   :D

What a delightful animation!  I enjoyed this movie very much.  I found the inter relationships of the various characters SO interesting. In fact, it superceded the Martial Arts aspect of the show.
I adored the Turtle who was the grandmaster.. he was superbly simple, and at the same time so complex.  I give this movie 5 stars.. I know that I want to add it to my Martial Art movie collection so that I can share it with my future Grandchildren.

Are there others who enjoyed it as much as I did?
