My teacher told us about Judo Gene Lebell:  http://www.genelebell.com/

He used to wear a pink gi, and he was so tough he could get away with it.  If you got a black belt from Judo Gene he would give you a pink gi and you would wear it with pride.   :)

I've got a funnier one than that.

I had a 15 year old student once who after passing his 9th Kyu (Red Belt) grading forgot to seperate his belt from his Gi, which turned a lovely shade of Salmon Pink.

Gi -- I'm a little perplexed.  Why do you call yourself Gi if you wear a dobok?   :)

I recently found an old heavy weight dan grade Do Balk at home that must be about 10 years old, It had all the badges, midnight blue trim and writing on it (they usually cost us about £100) It was in good condition but gruby and yellowy stained. I soaked it over night in 'Biotex' (that's what its called in the UK) it's a bleach free whitener so can be used with colours. I washed it after and it was like new.

No  they can turn yellow and when you sweat they stink to high heaven PU. We had one student  do it and he smelled like bleach so much you could not even get near him with out your eyes burning. ::)

You've got to give them an extra rinse to get rid of the bleach.
