Tai Chi stylists do "push" but they "Ward off" as well.

Actually, it's likely that you TKD/TSD guys have a lot more in common with the karateka than with me. Our style of hapkido does not have any links to Ji Han Jae, who is one of the two main guys responsible for the modern hapkido kicking curriculum, and to whom a good 95% or more of today's hapkido kwans can trace their lineage. Our kicking curriculum consists of only ten applications, all but one of which are low kicks. And our locking, throwing and striking techniques derive directly from the aikijujutsu (probably Daito-ryu) that Choi Yong Sul learned during his thirty-odd years in Japan.

So, while my style is nominally Korean, it's much closer to old Japanese jujutsu than to any of the modern Korean arts.

But all that is nothing but context. We've always been able to enjoy discussions here among people from all styles. We can all learn from each other.

Galahad,

I find it amusing that you posted this in the Karate section instead of one of the Korean sections.

But no, there are other Korean stylists here.  I just don't happen to be one, mostly due to the luck of the draw.  No decent Korean stylists anywhere close to where I am.  Karate was the only game and pretty much still is.

Nope, I'm still here.
