Thank you for posting Kururunfa, Sanzinsoo.  It's one of my favorite kata to watch, but I do not know it yet.

I was surprised to see someone walk through the frame while you were practicing.  Maybe seeing someone practice kata is an everyday thing where you live, but I would have stopped and watched you!

Would you mind explaining the moves you do at :53 and :54?  It looks like you're dealing with an attacker from behind.

As always, thank you so much for sharing your karate with us.  You inspire me!

Thanks for your comments, Gambatte Karate and Shudokan-RN.

The primary purpose of showing you my Kata videos is just for fun and entertaining you all. The secondary purpose is that I watch my own videos and laugh at them saying “how stupid I was!” when I get very very old, maybe when I am 108 years old.  ::)

being truly a beginner ( purple belt) I love watching your kata. I practice when ever I have the space and time ( even in the Operating room at work I practice kata, either standind or sitting on a rolling stool... My co-workers understand and encourage me.

Thanks for the beatiful examples you share with us

I like that location! I was actually taught that kata once before, but I have not practiced it in YEARS now. In fact, I would even say that while it was "taught" to me, I never really "learned" it.  ::)

Now I perform Geikisai Ichi in the different location. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Awesome!

I find it refreshing to see you performing kata in Japan. You seemingly have no alterior motives, such as trying to impress someone for a trophy or for a new belt. You are seemingly doing it because you truely find it enjoyable. You look so relaxed while practicing kata. I am impressed. Thank you again.

Hello, bogirl and gambatte karate. I am relieved to hear that. OK, I will post more.  ;D

Never! I enjoy them quite a lot actually. It is nice to see someone actually performing a kata, and not be doing it while trying to earn a trophy.

I also enjoy viewing them.  It is interesting to see the slight differences between the way the kata are being done in Japan and the way that we are doing them in my dojo.

Before these videos, the only other ones I have been able to watch and compare are Mario Higaonna and Teruo Chinen.

Gojuryu Kata "Kururunfa"

Many people think Tai Chi (= taijiquan) exercise is beneficial for health promotion. I think Kata of Gojuryu is also useful for the same purpose, if we practice it correctly in a relaxed way. In that way, we can enjoy practicing karate even if we get older. I am now 55 years old. This time I would like to demonstrate Kata “Kururunfa.” Watch my video clip of the following URL and enjoy it. Thanks.
