I really like the film, I also liked when he was finally captured and they were transporting him back to the Ninja clan compound. He was healing himself from his wounds with his finger formations in his hands. Very Sho Kasugi-like. No doubt he contributed that little that detail to the film. Its also something addressed in my own training, ofcourse its exaggerated in the film but now I can appreciate better what those hand formations are all about. Back in the early 80's watching Kasugi's films, I didnt have a clue.

As I said its one of the best martial arts films I've seen. Decent, straightforward storyline too. Pretty bloody!

The one particular thing I liked is how they integrated the shadows and had the Ninja clan literally a part of the darkness...you'd have to see it to know what I mean. It was a neat trick.

I never saw the movie all the way through but I can give you a little background about this movie regarding the Ninjitsu background associated with this movie. One of the people who helped create Ninja Assassin is Sho Kosugi and if anybody remembers the ninja craze of the late 70s and early 80s he did almost all of the ninja films films at that time that were classics who is a real descendant of an Iga clan in Japan. Also I found a clip of how they prepared for the stunts in the movie and Cyn they prepared the actors for the stunts in Ninja Assassin by having them do parkour and the martial arts along with throwing in some tricking to make the moves in the movie really acrobatic. I never the saw the movie but as soon as I get the chance I'm going to watch it besides if I can find me a sparring partner to train with me I'm going to start doing some Ninjitsu training so mind as well have a little motivation.  :D

the lead actor (Rain) isnt even really a martial artist, but a singer/dancer called the "Justin TImberlake of Korea

Oh you're kidding! I did not know that, he did a really good job. Totally agree on the entertainment part of it. I'll check out your review.

Now my curiousity is spiked! I will have to find this movie somewhere, and watch it.  Is it dubbed?

It was made in Germany but appears to be in English.  You might check out the review by Bladesaint though.

I started a thread on Ninja Assasin a few days ago as a movie review. Though I'm not a Ninjutsu practitionor Ive been a serious martial artist for the better part of 39 years and Ive encountered quite a few Ninpo students in my time and have indulged myself as well. This current movie is by far the best on the subject as far as entertainment, it is just a movie and the lead actor (Rain) isnt even really a martial artist, but a singer/dancer called the "Justin TImberlake of Korea" but he did a great service to all martial arts movie fans with his acting and portrayal, some may argue not so much about martial arts in general though.

I just saw the new movie Ninja Assassin and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only was it nice to see a decent martial arts film for the first time in a loooooong time but I also thought it was a really good depiction of the ninja.

I'd like to ask those of you who study Ninjustsu and have seen the movie what your take on it was.
