Some kungfu is great, some not so much :-P  You have over a billion people in China, and other Chinese countries, so I think it's natural for Chinese martial arts to encompass some of the best, and some of the worst, of the martial arts world ;-)

I'm sorry Adam, but I believe that the Gofer-chucks were from the movie "Kung Pow".. and that is not the same as Kung Fu ( which according to this thread is the greatest)
Just doin' my best.

What about the movie "Kung Fu Hustle"?  Many people enjoyed that one.  I found it to be delightfully different.

...and to further derail the discussion, "Kung Fu Killers (Parts 1 & 2)" was recently on SpikeTV, starring David Carradine and Daryl Hannah. Lots of palm-heel strikes and joint manipulations - good pair of movies!

Maybe he's asking us to discuss the 70's series with the Grasshopper Kwai Chang Kane wandering about the wild west fixing problems. :P

In that case yes, Kung Fu was the greatest 70 TV show with the Grasshopper Kwai Chang Kane wandering about the wild west fixing problems....

Well in that case my favourite episode is 'Beseiged' it's one of the few set only in China when Kane was still an acolyte. It has the old man from cold mountain and during one of the fights a soldier hits the guy over the head wth a rock and he just turns around and says "You'll need a bigger a rock!" ;D

Okay now that I've thrown the discussion off course I'll slink off back to the Japanese section... :-*
It's not what you do that counts but rather how spectacularly bad you do it...

Oh, sure, Dave - just toss out a 900-pound gorilla and say "Play nice"!  :P

Like any other style, it's a means to an end. If you take a "hankering" to it and it seems to fit you, then it might be "your" art.

Me? I'm a pacifist.  ::)

Good to see you again, Bro!  ;)

Opinion here will vary...

There are so many styles of Kung Fu, I would agree that Kung Fu was one of the first - but the greatest?  Could the art be the greatest in China?  Sure....

And I'm one to believe that its the Martial Artist and not the Art itself which makes the difference.
