Any of you who have not yet seen Avatar should get right out and see it while it's still in theaters.  I was pretty blown away by it when I saw it yesterday, and I can't stop thinking about it.

The effects are fabulous, as advertised, but I found it was really the story and the characters that touched me the most.  I thought of all of you because I think the movie is centrally about what it means to be a true warrior.  One of the fascinating things is that it's not really an anti-American story as many have said it is.  There are real warriors in the story on both sides -- the natives of the distant planet, and the Americans who come in to explore/exploit it.

What do you guys think?

So...Is the movie Anti American?

I really enjoyed it.  Yes, the overall premise is similar to "Dances with Wolves" or even "The Last Samurai", but I was still moved by it.

The 3-D effect was really natural looking, not hokey like in a lot of the cartoons that have put out recently.  I felt like it added depth to the scenery without feeling like I had to duck things coming at me or adding any feelings of vertigo.

Overall a good movie that I will be adding to my DVD collection when it comes out.   (I also have "Dances with Wolves" and "The Last Samurai")
