I haven't seen it, but my son (in his 20's) hated it.

I have no plans to see it.

Sakka did have a serious side to him in the cartoon.  I do agree that it was his comedic side that appealed to me, but I guess that they focused on the more serious aspect for the movie.  It is the rare actor that can pull both drama, and comedy convincingly.
Just doin' my best.

I heard they made Sakka all serious..... that just ruins it for me and I won't watch it. A staple to the cartoon was his stupidity and fun nature. Lack of character development ruined it for me and I haven't even watched it.

I finally saw The Last Airbender, last night and I have to say despite the disapointing reviews and box office returns, I actually enjoyed the film. yes there were some dialog and storyline that was a bit dumbed down but i got past that. I love how they used Taiji in the action scenes for the "Water Benders" I hope they are not discouraged and finish the storyline they started with sequels.

My 5 year old son is really into this show. So much so, that we go to our local library and check out Airbender books and read them before bedtime. Good stuff!

Yeah I don't know what to expect. The cartoon was well done. In fact I watch it with my son and have all 3 seasons.

It was going to be called Avatar The Last Air Bender. But they changed it due to a lawsuit by none other than James Cameron. The Director of you probably know ..... Avatar. A movie that I have not seen but may once it comes to DVD.

The martial arts in the cartoon were well researched and well placed. The entire thing did not have to do with martial arts. Meaning it wasn't always fighting etc.

I will see the first just because I am a fan. If it is not good I won't bother with the rest. I was not happy to see M. Knight Shamala doing the screenplay and directing it.

It will succeed economically because the Nickelodeon cartoon is based on is so well beloved, fondly regarded and has millions of fans (kids and no quite so kids). Several of my friends were cast as extras. I went through 2 auditions and one costume fitting and set call before being told they could not use me because I was too short  >:(.  They still paid me for those days. I was very disappointed. I might still watch it. It's supposed to be a trilogy. If I like he first one I will watch the next two.

For those of you not familiar with the cartoon, it relates the story of four nations at war, each one controls (or "bends") one of the four Western Elements: water, earth, fire and air. Only the Avatar, which is reincarnated among the different nations, can master all four elements. The last Avatar (which was an airbender) was lost for a century before being found frozen by two young members of the water tribe from the South pole.  During his absence and taking advantage of a comet that approached earth, the fire nation attacked the other three (The Water tribe, the Earth Kingdom and the Air monks).

Each element bending is based on a different martial art: water (tai chi), fire (northern shaolin), earth (hung gar)  and air (baguazhang). The creators have gone on record in several interviews stating this. My only concern is that the director has not have a hit movie since "the Sixth Sense". I just hope they stay faithful to the cartoon.

By the way, the casting of a white kid as "Ang", the main character has being highly controversial.
