Wonderful, Mindlore.  It is something special to find a place to train where you are welcomed, feel respected, and know that there is more there than just gaining rank.  It sounds like you found a quality Judo Sensei. Treasure that gift by your attitude in class, and by your attendence.

I wish you the BEST in your Martial Arts path.
Just doin' my best.

Well, I live in a small town, and there are only 2 martial arts to choose from here.
I used to go to the Tae Kwon Do school here until they screwed me over. Then I found out it was just a belt mill. They also never thought of me as an equal or treated me with respect.
Then, about 4 1/2 years ago, a Judo club started here. When I started they treated me as an equal, even when I was just starting out. The whole club goes out to eat together after every workout, which lets me get to personally know the teachers. All of my fees goes to their non-profit organization, and they use that money to host seminars, so all of my money can come back to me.

All in all, Judo is the best martial arts experience I have ever had.

Fantastic Mindlore! Thanks for making the first post.

It looks like you are a gung-ho type of student.  What is it in Judo that you love so much that you are willing to invest yourself into it?
Just doin' my best.
